‘Progressives’ just can’t stop harassing these nuns:
As the political Left continues what can only be characterized as invidious harassment against the Little Sisters of the Poor, the Left’s own hostility to basics of the American creed becomes apparent.
The order of Catholic nuns was in two different courtrooms this week trying to protect its religious freedom from destruction by “progressive” state attorneys general. Democratic attorneys general Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania and Xavier Bacerra of California are in effect ignoring a U.S. Supreme Court decision last year by trying again to force the Sisters to provide abortifacient drugs through their healthcare plans……
Rep. Tulsi Gabbard rightly blasts ‘religious bigotry’ of fellow Democrats:
In a stunning act of political courage, Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, D-Hawaii, effectively accused two of her own party’s senators of “religious bigotry” for their harsh inquiries about Nebraska judicial nominee Brian Buescher’s membership in a religious service organization. She’s absolutely right.
Gabbard had a column published in the Hill on Tuesday in which she took to task two senators “who are fomenting religious bigotry, citing as disqualifiers Buescher’s Catholicism and his affiliation with the Knights of Columbus.” Though she didn’t mention them by name, it’s pretty clear Gabbard is chastizing Sens. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., and Mazie Hirono, D-Hawaii, who asked Buescher if his Catholicism and membership in the Knights would cast into doubt whether he could hear cases “fairly and impartially.”……
Protecting religious and expressive liberty should be a piece of cake: It is a wonderful thing to see federal courts protect religious liberty. That’s what the courts are doing in the famous cases of Colorado cake artist Jack Phillips, against whom Colorado officials continue to press a vendetta because he refuses to produce cakes in favor of ceremonies that contradict his Christian faith…..
