House Ends Obama DoJ Slush Fund Practice — (Quin Hillyer, Liberty Headlines) Just as the House Judiciary Committee was unearthing evidence about the Obama Department of Justice’s (DoJ’s) misuse of lawsuit “slush funds,” the House this week passed a bill to forbid the entire DoJ slush fund system.

The measure faces a possible filibuster in the Senate, so the prohibition may not become permanent law, but the Trump Administration meanwhile has adopted the same basic policy that the legislation would mandate.

Liberty Headlines reported back in Junethat Attorney General Jeff Sessions stopped the practice by which it used “legal-penalty payments” it collected as a way “to funnel money to liberal interest groups – in effect, as a back-door subsidy for left-wing lobbyists.”…

Conservatives Glad to See IRS Chief Go — (Quin Hillyer, Liberty Headlines) Conservatives were celebrating Oct. 26 as President Trump finally announced a replacement, effective Nov. 12, for controversial Internal Revenue Service chief John Koskinen, whose five-year term ends that day.

Many critics wondered why it has taken so long to show Koskinen the door, with some conservatives being described as “furious” with Trump for letting him remain on the job until now.

Some even worried that Trump for some reason would re-appoint Koskinen, but now it is clear that won’t happen….
